So you want to transfer Yahoo email to another Yahoo account? Don’t worry, I have got you covered. I just recently performed the same process to tie two of my Yahoo accounts together and merge all of their mail.
I will explain to you step by step what I did, what mistakes you should avoid, and some secret tips to make the entire process much simpler. Without further ado, let’s get started by exploring the reasons that prompt users to attempt an inter-account Yahoo Mail transfer.
Why Transfer Yahoo Email to Another Yahoo Account All of a Sudden?
Yahoo made some adjustments to its storage quota, reducing the total available space by 98%. Users who treated their 1 TB mail storage as a personal archive now had to keep all emails within the 20 GB limit. You can regain lost storage by paying a premium, but no one will shell out $9.99/month/TB for multiple accounts. Many Yahoo users merge their different email accounts into a single repository.
Having multiple accounts with the same domain is confusing. You might send emails to a contact who does not have your second email ID in their safe sender list. So the mail sits in their junk section until expiry, and your message never reaches the person. By combining different Yahoo accounts into your main ID, you can avoid such situations.
The maximum number of Yahoo accounts a single person can have is 10. If you want to create a new one, you will have to merge existing accounts to create new quotas.
You could also receive a Yahoo account at your workplace. If a colleague leaves, you might be put in charge of their Yahoo mail. To make things smoother, you can merge accounts. This is a normal situation people face in their workplace.
It is possible you made a Yahoo account as a child with a name not appropriate for formal conversation. Because you still receive important emails there, you can make a new Yahoo account with a proper user account and transfer all your data there. So you can avoid embarrassing situations and maintain access to critical mail.
There might be other situations that force you to merge accounts. The methods I am about to describe are independent of initial conditions. Let us start by exploring what built-in features Yahoo has to merge two accounts.
Automated Forwarding to Transfer Yahoo Mail to Another Account
To get new emails in a different Yahoo ID, set up automatic forwarding. As of early 2021, Yahoo made this a premium-only feature. You must procure either Yahoo Mail Plus or the “Access + Forwarding” plan.
Once you have the plan, the steps are simple:
Step 1. Log in to your old Yahoo Mail account.
Step 2. Click the Settings gear at the top right corner, then select More Settings.
Step 3. Look for Mailboxes in the left side pane and click it.
Step 4. Select your source Yahoo email address.
Step 5. In the Forwarding section, type the email address of your new Yahoo account.
Step 6. Click on Verify. Yahoo will send a verification email to your new account.
Step 7. Log in to your new Yahoo ID, open the verification email, & click the confirmation link.
After this, all new emails sent to your old Yahoo address will be automatically forwarded to your new one.

This process has a few issues:
It is a paid feature that you have to pay for from a Yahoo account that you are about to close permanently, which does not seem like a smart decision.
This $5 per month payment is on top of the ~$10 subscription fee you are paying for the extra storage, bringing the total to $15 per month.
Auto-forwarding does not shift your legacy emails, so if your primary requirement was to move those emails, this method is not recommended for you. I have other methods as well.
Manually Forward All Mails
You can still forward emails in Yahoo. You can use this process to transfer remaining mail that could be forwarded with auto forwarding. Moreover, as this feature is free, anyone can use this to merge the mail data of two Yahoo accounts.

Here is what you need to do
- Step 1. Open any browser and log in to your Yahoo account.
- Step 2. Open any mail (this is compulsory); you can’t forward mail directly from the folder view.
- Step 3. Once a mail is open and visible, check the top tool ribbon, there click on the right-pointing arrow icon.
- Step 4. Type your new Yahoo account address and hit send.
Repeat for every email you want to see in the new account.
This method, too, has its disadvantages:
The major limitation is the one-email-at-a-time transfer; if the number of emails is small, this is not a big deal. However, most Yahoo users have had the same account for decades. During which time they would have accumulated thousands upon thousands of emails. It is not possible to manually forward this many emails.
Morver forwarding the emails changes its metadata. If you work in an industry that does not compromise on compliance, you could land in hot water.
Professionally Transfer Yahoo Email to Another Yahoo Account
Use the best-in-class IMAP migration tool to move your Yahoo mail between accounts. It can not only move your main inbox but also send items and even the custom folders, plus all attachments, flawlessly.
Available on both Windows and Mac, this utility offers what other methods fail at, that is, the combination of safety plus security.
Here is what you have to do to transfer Yahoo mail data with this tool
Step 1. Launch the tool on your system. The tool auto-selects IMAP endpoints, and the email workload checkbox is also marked for you. Just apply a date filter if you need it and press Next.
Step 2. Validate the source Yahoo Mail server by selecting it from the dropdown. The port number and IMAP server name will auto-fill. Repeat for the destination as well.
Step 3. On the User mapping screen, download a template, edit it to fill multiple Yahoo mail accounts in the source and destination columns, and then upload it via the import button.
Step 4. Check the accounts in the user list, prioritize, and validate, then press Start.
Use an Email Client to Drag and Drop
You can set up both of your Yahoo accounts in the same desktop-based email client. Then use the drag-and-drop facility to move a bunch of emails together across the two accounts.
The number of emails you can move depends on the UI of the email client.
You could use Outlook, Thunderbird, or any other client that is your favorite, just make sure to connect the Yahoo account carefully.
The way many email clients keep email accounts can make it difficult for you to drag and drop and vertically scroll at the same time. So what I suggest you do is open two instances of the same client. Set up a split-screen view with the source Yahoo on one side and the destination Yahoo on the other. Then drag and drop horizontally.
Conclusion
Here, I gave you plenty of ways to transfer Yahoo email to another Yahoo account. Choose the one that works best for you. What I would suggest is to go for the utility; it offers the most solid transfer capability out of any method. The rest is up to you.
